Scott's View: Best Wishes for Independence Day 2019

Scott's View

Independence Day is upon us! It’s a time to celebrate our nation’s 243-year history and our founding fathers, who courageously fought to create this great country. It took great courage and determination in 1776 to break with England and the King, and set off to build an independent country. We remember Ben Franklin’s stark warning to his fellow revolutionaries about the risks of breaking with the crown:

“We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

This week’s TopVet, General (Ret.) Joseph L. Votel has been one of our most important military leaders in the post-9/11 era. A product of the 1980s efforts to rebuild our military in the aftermath of Watergate and Vietnam, Votel has served with honor and distinction time and time again, from service in the former Yugoslavia to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

From all of us on the Veterans Advantage team, we wish you and your family a happy and safe Independence Day!
