Scott's View: Wishing a Happy 114th Birthday to the U.S. Army Reserve

Scott Higgins

Tomorrow, America’s Army Reserve will celebrate their 114th birthday serving as “Citizen Soldiers” to defend our nation.

On April 23, 1908, Congress created the Medical Reserve Corps, a group of 160 doctors and trained medical professionals ready to serve during times of national emergency.

Later, under the National Defense Act of 1920, Congress created the Organized Reserves for officers and enlisted personnel.

Today, that reserve force is the U.S. Army Reserve, a force of more than 189,000 highly skilled personnel with diverse private sector talents forged by military acumen.
