Craig Morgan poses with soldier in Afghanistan

Country music singer/songwriter Craig Morgan, who will perform on his first USO tour for service members at "Operation Enduring Freedom" forward operating bases, is a former Army paratrooper who saw service in Operation Just Cause in Panama.

Morgan first entertained his fellow troops during his military career, writing songs and performing while stationed in Korea.

He was the opening act for Sawyer Brown and was later named U.S. Army Male Vocalist of the Year. On his tour, he will sign autographs and mingle with the troops in addition to performing.

Following his military service, the Tennessee native pursued his music career and sang demos for various writers and publishing companies in Nashville, the country music capital.

In 2000, Morgan released his self-titled debut album, taking his life experiences and putting them to song. The album features "Something to Write Home About" and "Paradise," which speaks of his military experience as a young soldier. "Almost Home," the current single from Morgan's soon-to-be released (early '03) CD "I Love It," is heating up the R&R country singles chart.

Last year, Morgan performed for a host of dignitaries, top government officials, and members of Congress at the USO's 60th Anniversary Gala in Washington, D.C. He also performed last Thanksgiving for President Bush and the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
