Scott's View: Labor Day savings with Veterans Advantage

Scott Higgins

With Labor Day coming up this Monday, I hope you’re enjoying the last burst of a summer that has flown by. Since it’s also one of the busiest shopping holidays of the year, we’re highlighting Lenovo’s Labor Day sale in today’s member newsletter. You can also check out the Home & Office, Dining & Entertainment and Everyday Shopping categories of the Military Discounts Marketplace for many more savings.

And speaking of key dates on the calendar: Today is VJ Day, the 77th anniversary of the end of the war in the Pacific, effectively ending World War II. Our nation sent 16 million Americans, about 11% of our population at the time, to fight during World War II. They prevailed against tremendous odds, preserving the freedoms and democracy our nation continues to enjoy today.

I am remembering Lin’s father, a proud Marine officer who served on the island of Peleliu in Micronesia during the last year of the war. Sadly, he contracted malaria and died at 64, greatly missed by all of us in the family.. There are so few of our WWII Vets left today, so, if you know one, perhaps in your neighborhood,  be sure to let them know how much you appreciate their service and sacrifice!
