Scott's View: Space Shuttle Landing in New York City

Celebrate the opening of Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

This month is a special one in New York City, and for vets. Celebrate the opening of Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum's new Space Shuttle Pavilion and its newly acquired Space Shuttle Enterprise... now officially open to the public. It is a true celebration of veterans.

The Space Shuttle has had a storied past, and Veterans Advantage has profiled many of the military and veteran astronauts who have flown aboard this great standard of space aviation history over the years. At the recent ribbon cutting, attendees included NASA Administrator Charles Bolden (Marine Corps), Fred Haise (Marine Corps), Dick Truly (Navy), and Joe Engle (U.S. Air Force).

See more from the event by looking at our photo gallery below. You can also learn more on the Intrepid Museum's Space Shuttle Pavilion by clicking here.

Not only does the Intrepid Museum share a mutual board member with Veterans Advantage, in Gerry Byrne (also a Marine Corps veteran), but it is also a must-see attraction. What's more, Veterans Advantage members can save a lot on a trip to New York City. Here are just a few examples:

  • United Airlines: United counts the New York City area as a major travel hub.
