The Heritage of Veterans Advantage: Part 2, Early Veteran Advocacy
In 1978, Bobby Muller, who had recently founded Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), approached Scott for emergency funds. The group lacked the financial resources to continue its work. Numerous requests had been turned down by Bobby’s list of potential benefactors. Without a moment’s hesitation, Scott began writing the checks that would help keep VVA going during those early years.

The Heritage of Veterans Advantage: Part 3, Building The New York Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Shortly after Scott Higgin's return from Vietnam, New York City Mayor Edward I. Koch, (a WWII veteran) asked him to volunteer to lead a Mayor’s Task Force on New York Vietnam Veterans. The Mayor's objective for the Task Force was to recommend to City Hall what could be done to right what the Mayor believed to be a terrible wrong—the failure to recognize and honor the men and women, in this case, the New Yorkers, who had served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War.

Since our formal launch in 2001, we’ve been growing with the support of our active duty, veterans, and their families, who join our mission to ensure that they, and generations of service members to come, get the respect, recognition, and rewards they deserve for service to our country.
