Reflecting on Our Shared Heritage
This month also brings significant historical milestones that remind us of the courage and sacrifice of those who paved the way before us. On September 18, we celebrated the 79th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force as an independent service branch, honoring decades of air superiority and unwavering dedication to our national security.
We also honor the anniversaries of key historical events that occurred on this very day, September 25. In 1789, the first Congress of the United States approved 12 amendments to the Constitution, establishing our cherished Bill of Rights. Additionally, on this day in 1944, the brave, hard-fought campaign of Operation Market Garden concluded, representing an enduring symbol of Allied determination and heroism in World War II.
These milestones serve as a powerful reminder of the values we protect and cherish together.
