Scott's View: D-Day Anniversary: Remembering Our WWII Veterans from 71 Years Ago

Scott's View

Anniversaries are a time for reflection, gratitude, and hope for a better future. For Veterans, events like this seem to be more prevalent than ever before – for Post-9/11 Vets, those who served in Vietnam, and our nation’s Veterans from World War I and World War II.

As this weekend marks the 71st anniversary of the Normandy invasion, Veterans Advantage recognizes the remarkable sacrifice from the Veterans of that era.

A sampling of our Facebook fans says it all:

Thank you for your service, a day of remembering those who gave their all.

Gotta watch “Band of Brothers” this weekend.

Please remember to fly our Flag proudly for them & America.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

The National WWII Museum—which originally opened as The National D-Day Museum in 2000—will reflect on that historic day and the Museum's 15th Anniversary this weekend.

If you happen to be in the New Orleans area this weekend, we urge you to check it out. D-Day-related events at the Museum will begin early on Saturday, June 6, and continue throughout the day.

Guests will have the rare opportunity to climb aboard an LCVP (Higgins boat) to get a feel for what it was like to hit the beaches of Normandy, France. Visitors can also participate in many commemorative events.

For those who served during that pivotal time in American history, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we give our thanks.
