Vet News: National Guard (In Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of April 29, 2014

The Army Reserve, Navy Reserve and Marine Corps Reserve announced this week a decrease in activated reservists, while the Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve announced an increase of National Guard members and activated reservists. The Coast Guard Reserve announced no change in the number of activated reservists. The net collective result is 63 more activated National Guard members and reservists in comparison to last week.

At any given time, services may activate some units and individuals while deactivating others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease. The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 26,244; Navy Reserve, 3,701; Marine Corps Reserve, 1,450; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 7,164; and the Coast Guard Reserve, 427. This brings the total National Guard and reserve personnel who have been activated to 38,986, including both units and individual augmentees.
