Scott’s Corner: Heroes Meet Heroes 2020 Memories with Veterans & Olympians

Scott's View

For the past nine years, Veterans Advantage has hosted U.S. active duty military, veterans and their families to celebrate their service to our country on Veterans Day.

Heroes Meet Heroes has been the cornerstone of these events, and a memorable one, too!

The Heroes reception brings together those who serve and their families and Olympians from the New York Athletic Club, the largest team training base for the U.S. Summer Olympics.

This year, we organized a streaming media event for Veterans Advantage members from around the country. It’s always heartwarming to see the mutual awe and support veterans and athletes receive when they meet. They are united by a common purpose of representing our nation with their discipline, hard work, and desire to succeed.

I want to salute our sponsors who provided the critical support for this important event. Once again Northrop Grumman served as our Presenting Sponsor, for which we are most grateful. A shout out to Sandra Evers-Manly, the President of the Northrop Grumman Foundation! This year, Caliber Home Loans, longtime VetRewards Exclusive partner 1800Flowers, and FourBlock, our 501C3 partner, joined us as sponsors. Thank you!

Finally, and speaking of heroes, this week marks the 79th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. From President Roosevelt’s address to the nation, “it was a day which will live in infamy” that brought our country into World War II. We owe those who served and fought in that war  a debt of gratitude we can never repay. They defeated our enemies, protected the free world and preserved our freedoms and way of life. We shudder to think how different our world would be, had they not prevailed. Our generation of WWII veterans will not be with us much longer, so don’t pass up any opportunity to thank them for their service!

Stay safe and healthy!
