Scott's View: Recognizing HeroVet Dr. Jonathan Woodson

We recognize Dr. Jonathan Woodson who is a shining example of the spirit of service before self. In addition to being a medical doctor, he has dedicated his life to giving back to others. He is a leading educator, former Pentagon leader, board member of a national organization that supports wounded veterans, and currently serves as a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Dr. Woodson is the son of a WWII Veteran who served with honor during a time when the Army was still segregated. Inspired by his father’s service, he put his life in harm’s way, serving overseas in Kosovo in the 1990s, Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm and Shield, and Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

We honor Dr. Woodson as a HeroVet for Black History Month and are inspired by his lifelong commitment to service and giving back to others.
