Vet News: Stamp to honor Korean War Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A photograph of the Korean War Memorial shrouded in heavy snow, reminiscent of the bitter winter fighting in Korea, is about to become a U.S. postage stamp honoring the war’s Veterans.

The new 37-cent stamp will be released in ceremonies at the memorial July 27, the 50th anniversary of the armistice stopping the fighting. The stamp goes on sale nationwide the following day.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial features 19 statues that depict members of the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force in a wedge formation as if on patrol. About 34,000 Americans were killed in battle during the war, and more than 103,000 were wounded.
