Herbert Anderson

Herbert W. Anderson, who served in the Army from 1958-61, is corporate vice president of Northrop Grumman Corporation and president of Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT), the corporation's IT sector.

Northrop Grumman IT is a premier provider of advanced IT solutions, engineering and business services for government and commercial clients.

Headquartered in Herndon, Va., Northrop Grumman IT has estimated 2002 sales in excess of $4 billion and more than 22,000 employees worldwide.

In 1998, Mr. Anderson was named president and CEO of Logicon Inc., the former name of Northrop Grumman IT, when Northrop Grumman combined its Data Systems & Services Division (DSSD), and Logicon subsidiary, into a new organization. Previously, he served as corporate vice president and general manager of DSSD, a position he held since January 1995. He was appointed deputy general manager of DSSD when it was formed in 1994 after the acquisition of Grumman Corporation.

He joined Northrop in 1984 as vice president of Information Resources Management for the company's former B-2 division. In 1990, he was named corporate vice president and center manager of the newly established Northrop Information Services Center.

In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Mr. Anderson as a principal member of the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Secretary of the Air Force Advisory Group, an active board member of the Professional Services Council and the United Service Organizations, and a former member of the Defense Science board, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association board, and a former subcommittee board member of the Aerospace Industries Association.

Recently, Government Computer News magazine, a publication of the Post Newsweek Tech Media Group, honored Mr. Anderson with the 2001 Post Newsweek Industry Executive of the Year Award.

Mr. Anderson lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Marsha. They have two children and five grandchildren.
