Veterans Advantage Facebook Page Surpasses Half a Million Likes

Facebook and WeSalute (Veterans Advantage)

Veterans Advantage, one of the nation’s first public benefit corporations for the military and veteran communities, continues to expand its mission of providing greater respect, recognition and rewards by utilizing the wide reach of social media. In the last three years, the Veterans Advantage Facebook page – facebook.com/vetrewards – has increased its likes by over 500 percent, surpassing more than a half million in early 2016.

The Veterans Advantage Facebook page has evolved into a large community that continues to honor veterans and military personnel, recognize their sacrifices and provide a platform through which eligible members can access valuable benefits and resources. The social media platform has also helped Veterans Advantage introduce many benefits they make available to military personnel, veterans and military family members, who might otherwise be unaware.

“Clearly, social media has helped us expand our mission awareness online. But, more importantly, our Facebook feed has evolved into a real-time support mechanism powered by the voices of 500,000 individuals, who are actively backing members of our military community,” said H. Scott Higgins, co-founder and CEO of Veterans Advantage and a Vietnam War veteran.

The growth in the Veterans Advantage Facebook community flourished as its followers engaged with unique Veterans Advantage editorial content, including posts highlighting the work of military personnel, accomplishments of veterans in the civilian sector, the work of veteran service organizations, veteran job opportunities and key historic military dates.

“We amplify our messages with rich, motivational and informative content and our followers are responding, sharing and liking our content more than ever,” Higgins added.

In addition to growth in social media, Veterans Advantage also experienced rapid growth in its military benefits program in 2016. Over the past year, Veterans Advantage has added JetBlue, Verizon Fios, Universal Orland Resort, Liberty Mutual Insurance and ZipCar to its coalition of nearly 90 benefits partners, while expanding the benefits package for longtime partners Amtrak and 1800Flowers.com.
