This week we mark a momentous occasion in American history as we celebrate the 249th birthday of the United States Navy. On October 13th, 1775, just a few months after the U.S. Army was born, the Continental Congress authorized the creation of our second military branch - a naval force, laying the foundation for what would become the most powerful navy in the world.
