Scott's View: Remembering the "Forgotten War": Honoring Korean War Veterans This Armistice Day
Scott Higgins, WeSalute Co-founder & Co-CEO

As July 27th approaches, we prepare to observe Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. This important day serves as a crucial reminder of the profound sacrifices made during a conflict often, and unfairly, dubbed the "Forgotten War." While it spanned just three years, from 1950 to 1953, its impact on the world and on countless lives was anything but minor.
The Korean War was a pivotal moment in the burgeoning Cold War, a brutal and bloody conflict that reshaped geopolitical lines and set the stage for much of the latter half of the 20th century, and we mark this day when hostilities officially ended, giving rise to the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea.
Our Korean War veterans, through their incredible courage and unwavering commitment, bore the brunt of this challenging period. They fought under harsh conditions, enduring unimaginable hardships to defend freedom and uphold democratic ideals.
The peace we enjoy today, and the global stability that has followed, owes an immense debt to their bravery. Their service, often overlooked in historical narratives, secured a future for generations that followed. It's imperative that we never forget the true cost of that conflict and the invaluable peace their sacrifices helped achieve.
This Armistice Day, let's take a moment to truly remember and honor these remarkable individuals. Let their stories be told, and their contributions acknowledged. To all our Korean War veterans: Thank you for your service. Your profound impact will forever be etched in the annals of history, and in the hearts of a grateful nation.
