Scott's View: Save the Dates for Veterans Week NYC 2019

Scott's View

With Veterans Day less than six weeks away, it is "save the date" time!

For the eighth consecutive year, Veterans Advantage is the presenting sponsor of Veterans Week NYC. We helped found Veterans Week in 2012, getting an official Mayoral Proclamation. And the events continue to grow in number beyond a week -- we're talking about a month-long series of events, which includes new VetRewards savings opportunities just for Veterans Day. We will start announcing those in our next Benefits Alert and on our VeteransWeekNYC.org site.

Veterans Week NYC is an initiative we helped create to highlight the strength of New York City's commitment to America's Veterans and the military community. The special events help promote recognition of our Veterans and their families, and educate our youth about service and sacrifice. The NYC Veterans Day Parade is the key event of this annual citywide initiative, which encompasses the efforts of a wide range of veterans organizations and corporations.

This year, we recognize our key partner supporters, 7-Eleven, Wyndham, Dell, Northrop Grumman, 1800Flowers, Avis, and Budget.

We invite you to join us at the three events which our partners will be sponsoring:

1.  On November 11, Veterans Advantage will participate with our own float in New York City's Veterans Day Parade, the largest in the country. Those in the area are invited to climb aboard our patriotic float or march alongside us in the parade.

2. On Sunday, November 10, we will host "Heroes Meet Heroes," where our veteran heroes have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with our heroes of sports, U.S. Olympic and world-class athletes. The venue once again will be the venerable New York Athletic Club, our nation's highest medal-producing athletic club in our nation's Olympic history. "Heroes Meet Heroes" is always an emotionally moving event that is family-friendly, too!

3. Finally, our friends at IMAX Corporation have once again joined forces with us to host a free, private movie screening. This year,  we'll show the critically acclaimed movie Ford v Ferrari. Starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, it captures the 1960s rivalry between two auto giants seeking the top spot in auto racing. We'll be hosting this event on Veterans Day, in the evening, after the parade.

We will send invitations to our VetRewards subscribers like you soon for all three events, so save these dates and stay tuned!
