Scott's View: Women’s History Month Highlights Leader in Benefits for Female Veterans

Scott's View

With the start of Women’s History Month, we are recognizing female veterans who have made a difference. This week, we honor Linda Schwartz, a friend with a long and distinguished history of serving veterans at the state and federal level.

The daughter of a World War II veteran, Linda served for more than a decade as Connecticut’s Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, the first woman to hold that position. She went on to become an Asst. Secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Over her long career, she has worked tirelessly and made major contributions to a wide range of veterans issues, including  advancing the cause of disabled veterans.

Also, this weekend, let's all remember our World War II veterans and the 80th birthday of the legendary Navy Seabees. The word "Seabee" comes from "CB," the abbreviation of "Construction Battalion," and we recognize their "can do'' attitude. It’s an inspiration to us all!
