VA Breaks New Ground, Accelerates Disability Claim Processing for Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is setting new benchmarks in its commitment to America's veterans, announcing on June 24th that it has processed over 2 million disability benefits claims so far in 2025. This achievement comes more than a month ahead of last year's record-setting pace, signaling a significant leap in efficiency.
The VA is on track to exceed its previous annual record by over 14%, demonstrating a sustained effort to deliver critical support to those who served. Already in FY 2025, the VA has distributed over $120 billion in compensation and pension benefits to veterans and their survivors, providing essential financial aid across the nation.
The VA states, under President Trump's administration they have made substantial progress in streamlining its operations, slashing the backlog of disability claims by more than 74,000. Veterans are also experiencing a noticeable improvement in processing times with the average wait time for a claim has dropped from 141.5 days on January 20, 2025, to 131.8 days by June 21, 2025.
"Our focus is clear: to get results for veterans," stated VA Secretary Doug Collins. "The significant reduction in the claims backlog and the accelerated processing times are a direct reflection of that commitment. We are just beginning our work to ensure veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors receive the benefits they've rightfully earned."
