Scott Higgins Military & Veterans Life Eighty Years On: Honoring the Legacy of WWII and the Enduring Mission of WeSalute It's almost time to commemorate a monumental moment in history: the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. While Victory in Europe (V-E Day) was observed on May 8, 2025, the formal end of WWII, known as Victory over Japan (V-J Day), is recognized on August 15 - the formal surrender by Japan to Allied forces -, and once again on September 2 when the surrender documents were officially signed aboard the USS Missouri.
