Scott's View: Iwo Jima and the Importance of Military History
I was a history major in college, and like me, you may be fascinated by military history. Last week, we marked the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, one of the most important battles of World War II, memorialized in the iconic photo of our U.S. Marines planting the U.S. flag on Mount Suribachi. As we look back, we are reminded that time is running out for our World War II veterans. Please make the effort to seek out one in your community. Ask them about their service and thank them for helping to keep us free. You'll make their day!

We will start announcing those in our next Benefits Alert and on our VeteransWeekNYC.org site.

Scott's View: Best Wishes for Independence Day 2019
Independence Day is upon us! It’s a time to celebrate our nation’s 243-year history and our founding fathers, who courageously fought to create this great country. It took great courage and determination in 1776 to break with England and the King, and set off to build an independent country. We remember Ben Franklin’s stark warning to his fellow revolutionaries about the risks of breaking with the crown:

Scott’s View: Service That’s Never Forgotten
It was January 31st, 1968. 4am. That’s when the shelling began. I was stationed at the III Corps HQ near Saigon. Of the 4 Corps of the Army of South Vietnam, III Corps had the most Americans. I was 22 at the time, ranked 2nd Lieutenant supply officer, and at the time, I had been in Vietnam for 3 months.
